Structural design and kinematic analysis of a welding robot for liquefied natural gas membrane tank automatic welding

نویسندگان

چکیده

Owing to the complex structures of welding materials, special conditions, and challenges during automatic liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship Mark III’s membrane tank, a series–parallel–series hybrid structure mobile robot having sufficient adaptability for corrugated plates in tanks was designed this study. The configuration had good workspace characteristics, it could always maintain certain distance angle between end torch weld line because its detection control system coordination. In study, degrees freedom, kinematic workspace, analyses were conducted mechanism. A simulation verification performed, ripple-trajectory-following experiment using real objects. experimental results showed that reasonable mechanism design, smooth motion, terminal control, thus meeting requirements tanks.

Design of Spot Welding Robot

Welding robot has played an extremely important role in the welding production of high-quality, high-efficiency. The paper designed the hardware structure and software of spot welding robot. The hardware design mainly includes the major modules of arm and base; the hardware design includes two parts: manual mode and automatic mode. Manual mode is generally used for the robot system installation...

CAD interface for automatic robot welding programming

Industrial robots play an important role in industry, due to their exibility. Many applications (almost all that require human intervention) may be performed with advantages by robots. Nevertheless, set-up operations, necessary when changing production models, are still tricky and time-consuming. It is common to have detailed data of working pieces in computer aided design (CAD) Žles, resultin...

Diagnosis and Ergonomic Design of Oxy Gas Welding Workstation by RULA Method. Case Study: Welding Workshops

Introduction: Working under non-ergonomic situations can cause physical damage. It's compulsory for the students of almost every engineering discipline to do parts of their training activitiy in various workshops including welding workstations; needless to say, the paucity of appropriate situations in such workshops may lead to physical injuries. On the other hand, ergonomic design of workstati...

Gas tungsten arc welding

Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, is an arc welding process that uses a nonconsumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The weld area is protected from atmospheric contamination by a shielding gas (usually an inert gas such as argon), and a filler metal is normally used, though some welds, known as autogenous welds, do not require it. A const...

Welding Fume and Gas Exposure

A recent $1 million award by an Illinois jury to a welder was the first plaintiff victory in a welding rod failure-to-warn suit and many similar cases are expected to follow. In the case of Elam v. AO Smith et. al., the jury concluded that the manganese in welding fumes caused a 65-year old worker to develop a neurological disorder similar to Parkinson’s disease (i.e., Manganism). Since there a...
